Multi-Channel Fulfilment: What Is It and How Can It Help You?
Amazon's Multi-Channel Fulfilment lets you use their logistics network to ship orders from your own website and other platforms.
Most people know Amazon FBA as a way to sell products on Amazon's marketplace. But there's another powerful feature of FBA that many sellers overlook: Multi-Channel Fulfilment (MCF). This service allows you to use Amazon's world-class logistics network to fulfil orders from any sales channel — not just Amazon.
Here's how it works. You store your inventory in Amazon's fulfilment centres, just like regular FBA. But instead of only fulfilling Amazon orders, you can also use that same inventory to fulfil orders from your own website, eBay, Shopify store, or any other sales platform. Amazon picks, packs, and ships the order on your behalf, regardless of where the sale originated.
The benefits of MCF are significant. First, you get access to Amazon's massive logistics infrastructure. Their fulfilment centres are strategically located to provide fast delivery to customers across the country. This means your customers get their orders quickly, no matter where they purchased from.
Second, MCF simplifies your operations. Instead of managing inventory in multiple locations and dealing with different shipping providers for different channels, you consolidate everything through Amazon. One inventory pool, one fulfilment partner, one set of processes.
Third, MCF allows you to scale across multiple channels without adding operational complexity. Want to start selling on your own Shopify store? No problem — Amazon handles the fulfilment. Want to expand to eBay? Same thing. You can focus on marketing and sales while Amazon takes care of the logistics.
There are costs associated with MCF — the fees are typically slightly higher than standard FBA fees since you're not selling through Amazon's marketplace. But for many sellers, the convenience and reliability of Amazon's fulfilment network more than justify the additional cost.
At A to Z Formula, we encourage our more advanced students to explore multi-channel selling as a growth strategy. Starting with Amazon FBA gives you a solid foundation, and MCF provides the bridge to expand your business across multiple platforms without losing the operational simplicity that makes FBA so attractive.
