Like most parents mine had big ambitions for me. They wanted me to graduate from university and get a “real job.”

And like most parents, they wanted me to be a doctor or a lawyer.

Problem was when they saw my report cards from school they realised there was no hope I’d ever get into medical school.

So they compromised and decided I should become a lawyer instead.

And off I went to law school.

Now here’s the funny thing.

I studied my backside off for 6 long years. I slogged it out over books and books of laws, rulings and cases.

And one day there I was – Brendan Elias, Bachelor of Laws. Ready to one day become a Queen’s Counsel, barrister to the rich and famous and practice in the highest courts in the land.

Yeah, fat chance.

In fact I never earned a single cent from my law degree.  My first job was as a lawyer for the Salvation Army.

As a volunteer.

And I GOT FIRED!

Yes, 6 years down the drain as I couldn’t even hold down an unpaid position.

Blessing In Disguise

In my heart I never wanted to be a lawyer.

I mean, who wants to spend their life chained to a desk, so overworked you’d be in tears.

That wasn’t going to happen to me.

Anyhow, soon after getting fired from an unpaid position I decided to set a new course in life.

The decision was obvious. I was going to become an importer.

Why was it obvious? My dad, Nat, was on of Australia’s earliest importers and laid the foundations for thousands of importers who followed him.

If you could describe the luckiest kid in the world you’d probably come up with me - a kid whose dad imports toys and lets him to play with everything.

My First Introduction To Importing

This was my first introduction to importing.

My first deal was buying 100 DVD players for $30 with a total outlay of $3,000. We put the DVD players on eBay and it didn’t take long.

BING! In comes an email from eBay telling me … I’ve got a sale!

I made three sales in my very first day and pretty soon we sold every single DVD player at $80, a handy profit of $5,000. (The customer paid for shipping in case you’re wondering).

I continued like this for years, making millions of dollars importing products from China.

Then a few people heard about my successes, and I started teaching people my secrets.

That turned into one of the most successful importing schools in Australia! Thousands of students have learned my method.

But then, in 2016, everything changed.

Amazon began muscling eBay out and was the number one place on the internet to buy things.

And I knew I had to try it out.

So I put some of my eBay products on Amazon and BOOM – they sold like hot-cakes.

So for the next 6 months I dedicated myself to becoming one of the foremost experts in the country on Amazon.

Today?

I have months when I sell $67,000 worth of goods and more - without running my Amazon business full time.

And it's without the 20% profit margin conventional businesses aim for i.e. it's mostly profit.
