Amazon Closes the Gap on Facebook and Google in Search

You probably only think of Amazon as an online retailer.

It’s just a behemoth in the space. Over in the states, it’s the go-to brand for online retail. Even here in Australia, where we only got our own Amazon in 2017, it’s growing by leaps and bounds.

That’s all well and good when it comes to opportunities for you to build your own business.

But you also want to know that Amazon’s making strides to protect its future.

After all, we know that a stagnant company is a dead company. Jeff Bezos himself has said that.

Amazon has to constantly evolve to stay alive!

And it’s doing just that with its moves into the paid search space.

Over the last decade or more, this is a space that Facebook and Google have completely dominated. You can’t make a search on Google without seeing a bunch of ads. You’ll see even more plastered all over Facebook.

These paid search ads are massive revenue drivers for both companies.

But the tides are changing and it’s all thanks to Amazon.

During the first half of the year, Google and Facebook accounted for about 75% of the year-over-year growth in paid search revenue.

That’s still a massive chunk.

But Amazon’s coming on strong in the space.

Other paid search efforts made up about 18%. All told, this 18% generated growth of $1.5 billion in revenue for the first half of the year.

Amazon accounted for $1 billion of that growth.

The message is clear. There’s a new player in the paid search game that’s looking to rival Google and Facebook.

Amazon’s movements in this area create two benefits for you as a seller.

For one, they make the company stronger. That means there’s even less risk of the platform disappearing from under your feet.

Secondly, you have something new to take advantage of. As Amazon’s paid search enterprise grows, you’ll be able to take advantage of it to bring more people to your products.
